The Art of Being Present

Most of our clients have never planned something quite like this. They have a vision (usually), but the reality of navigating the Riviera Maya on their own can quickly feel overwhelming. Will the saxaphonist arrive on time? How do we keep the grand production a surprise?

Our job is to make the complexity disappear. When the logistics are taken care of, you're free to actually be there. To hold each other's hands, and celebrate the lives you are weaving together.

Our Story

Pioneers in Playa

We started in 2021 as the first luxury picnic service in Playa del Carmen, and have since orchestrated over 500 bespoke events across the Riviera Maya. Our team has grown, as have our offerings.

We are now a full-service event planning company, specializing in once-in-a-lifetime events. Our team is made up of experts in their respective fields, and we are committed to providing the best possible experience for our clients.

The Curators

Meet the Team

Mar

Mar Cutler

Founder

Mar cut her teeth in airport operations, coordinating teams of 30+ and ensuring every flight departed on schedule. As a young woman in a male-dominated environment, she earned trust through discipline, responsibility, and consistency—and never broke it.

Parallel to this, Mar spent 15 years playing competitive basketball, leading teams and adapting across multiple positions. The sport shaped her core philosophy: trust the team, align everyone to a shared vision, and understand that flow matters as much as discipline.

Today she holds a degree in nutrition and certificates in design, business, and yoga. For Mar, luxury is not excess—true luxury lives in clarity, alignment, and teams moving as one. Her purpose is simple: to create spaces of joy, love, and relaxation, and to offer couples the rare gift of feeling genuinely held.

Yazmin

Yazmín Hernández

Sales

Yazmín is Mar's twin sister and partner in crime. Before joining Amar, she coordinated private aviation for VIP clients and organized international forums with the United Nations in Switzerland. She holds a bachelor's in Sustainable Development and an MBA from Paris.

Her passion for wellness runs deep—she spent a year studying yoga in India, and that grounding shapes how she connects with every client. With empathy, presence, and conscious communication, she creates genuine relationships from the very first contact.

What she loves most is listening to what each person imagines for their special moment and translating it into a clear, caring plan for the team. For Yazmín, ensuring every step feels simple, personalized, and stress-free is a privilege she values deeply.

Najla Sleme

Najla Sleme

Operations Coordinator

Najla is a certified Wedding Specialist with a degree in Event Design and Planning and a Master's in Event and Banquet Management. With 8 years of experience in the Riviera Maya's high-end hospitality scene, she combines technical expertise with a deep sensitivity for working with emotions, dreams, and real stories.

Her greatest strength is her ability to coordinate complex logistics while ensuring every detail flows with natural ease. She prides herself on anticipating needs before they are even voiced, ensuring every couple feels thoughtfully and professionally cared for.

What she loves most is bringing ideas to life and turning them into memories that last forever. She is passionate about connecting with people and ensuring that every moment of their special day feels warm, authentic, and perfectly executed.

Andrea

Andrea Calderón

Event Coordinator

Andrea trained at Hotel Escuela de Los Andes Venezolanos in hospitality and service, then spent 15 years perfecting her craft—the last 6 of them in the Riviera Maya. She specializes in on-site coordination and setup, the hands-on work that makes events come together seamlessly.

What she loves most about her job is that exact moment when clients arrive at their event and everything is perfect—their expressions of pure joy. Outside of work, she plays club-level ultimate frisbee (sometimes with Andrew on the beach).

Mariana Barocio

Mariana Barocio

Photographer

Mariana is a professional photographer with over 10 years of experience capturing meaningful moments. For the past five years, she's been based in the Riviera Maya, specializing in social events, marriage proposals, and weddings. Fluent in Spanish, English, and Portuguese, she connects easily across cultures.

Her work is characterized by a deep sensitivity to people, emotions, and small details that often go unnoticed. She has a natural ability to connect with those she photographs, creating a relaxed and trusting environment where authentic moments unfold organically.

Each project is approached as a personalized experience, carefully crafted so that every image becomes a lasting memory. Through her attentive eye and thoughtful approach, Mariana transforms fleeting moments into timeless visual stories.

Andrew Cutler

Andrew Cutler

Software Engineer

Andrew has been with Amar since the very beginning—doing whatever it takes, from setting up events to web design. He holds a PhD in Electrical Engineering from Boston University, where his dissertation explored the connection between personality structure and Large Language Models.

Before fully committing to Amar, Andrew spent years in the startup world, co-founding Geolava, a VC-backed spatial intelligence company, and developing VR systems for neurotech applications used by the NFL and Special Forces.

At Amar, Andrew brings this technical rigor and founding-member grit to the digital experience. When he's not overengineering the backend, he writes a popular blog on the evolution of consciousness, plays club-level ultimate frisbee, and can still juggle while riding a unicycle.
